WHAT IS MEDIATION?

Mediation is used in any disagreement, dispute or conflict including those of a personal nature. It is used in legal issues, contract negotiations, and family matters. Almost all conflicts can be resolved through negotiation. Mediation is a most effective and productive form of negotiation that leads to effective resolution of conflict.

Mediation is a collaborative process that allows two or more individuals to solve their conflict with the assistance of a third party who is the mediator. The mediator, a neutral professional assists the participants to identify options which lead them to reach equitable solutions to their dispute or disagreement.

Any relationship can benefit from mediation. Through collaboration the participants in a dispute, with the assistance of a mediator, can arrive at an outcome that is acceptable to all parties. The outcome is a Win/Win situation rather than a situation where one party wins and the other loses.
